There are 12 terrific workshops available to choose from. Students elect to attend one workshop (grade appropriate) for the whole day 9-3pm.
Ocean Life Discovery – Grades 1, 2 & 3
Calling all Marine Biologists!
Become a Marine Biologist for the day and learn about our amazing ocean creatures and how to look after them. Explore and interact with weird and wonderful live sea creatures on this amazing ocean discovery! Learn about different marine animals and how we can protect them in their beautiful marine environment! So come along and be a ‘Marine Biologist’ for the day with this fabulous, live and interactive, Ocean Exploration!
Fun with Maths (Junior) – Grades 1, 2 & 3
Think outside the box! Challenge your mind and fire your imagination.
Fun with Maths is hands-on, interactive and loads of fun! This workshop will enrich your child by presenting them with real-life mathematics problems not found in the classroom. Children are taken on a hands-on mathematical journey of amazing explorations of discovery, creative problem solving and investigation. Using both sides of their brain they will problem solve to crack the code and open the safe, create a tower of light, measure the volume of their hands, save the earth from destruction and much, much more. Fun with Maths is filled with games, challenges and lots of fun for everyone.
A Play in a Day – The Lorax – Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6
Participants in this workshop will have a fantastic time acting out the playful and hopeful Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax. In this cautionary rhyming tale, we learn of the Once-ler who harvests all the trees and changes the landscape forever. Exploration of this theme through drama will offer many opportunities for creative expression and remind participants of the importance of seeing beauty in the world around us and how we all have a responsibility to protect it. In a fun, supportive and energetic learning environment, students will develop their speech and drama skills. They will learn about clear and effective speech and how to use pace, pause, emphasis, intonation and enunciation, as well as posture, breathing and stage presence to be an effective communicator. At the end of the workshop, there will be a performance of The Lorax for family to enjoy!
Freaky Fun Science – Grades 2 & 3
Wanted – Scientists who like some freaky, slimy, whacky, science fun!
Dress up like a Scientist, lab coats, glasses and all and experience some awesome hands-on experiments with Freaky Fun Science. This is sure to challenge, inspire and blow your mind! Create some crazy chemical reactions, goo, rockets and so much more in the super science challenges you will explore!
Budding Entrepreneurs – Grades 5, 6 & 7
Entrepreneurship and innovation workshop
Would you like to start your own business? Would you like to learn business start-up skills to set you up for success in the future? You could be the next Steve Jobs, Melanie Perkins or Elon Musk!
Using Design Thinking, Budding Entrepreneurs will challenge you to create innovative business ideas and solutions that could be turned into making money along the way. Engaging and interactive, this workshop will teach you all about how to become an entrepreneur. You will also gain valuable 21st Century Skills such as creativity, problem-solving and financial literacy. Come along to collaborate with other like-minded students in a group setting, whilst having a lot of fun along the way!

Calling all Myth Busters – Are you ready to solve some myths? Only curious kids and super scientists allowed!
Ever wondered if you could really fry an egg using the sun’s rays? Or, is it even possible to remove a tablecloth without disrupting the salt and pepper shakers? Join Myth Busters to examine these and other fun and exciting myths. See what is really possible! It guarantees to be a day of scientific discovery, investigation, awesome fun and lots of cool Myth Busting!
Scratch Game Programming – Grades 2, 3 & 4
Imagine, Program, Create! Learn how to create and program your very own computer game!
Scratch is a computer programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations and games. As young people create Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. This workshop will focus on the use of Scratch to create some very cool games. SCRATCH is a free programming language, so students can continue their projects in class or at home, long after the workshop has finished.
The Author’s Roadmap – Grades 4, 5, 6 & 7
Be inspired, be creative, be the best writer you can be! Could you be the next J.K Rowling?
The Author’s Roadmap will unlock inspirational story ideas and provide tips and tricks to achieve your writing dreams. Students discover why story endings are as crucial as beginnings. Spend a day with one of Australia’s best loved Authors – Allison Paterson, multi-published author, publishing consultant and Redgum Young Writer’s Award judge who will guide writers on the journey to creating a wonderful story – plotting, characterisation, the power of place and the magic of words. But that’s not all – with stories underway, students will then uncover the secret to the pathway to publication. Writing pad, pencils and creative minds are essential. Animation Mash Up – Clay Animation AWESOMENESS! – Grades 4, 5, 6 & 7
Come and get ANIMATED!
Create your own stop motion animation from the ground up and bring your creative ideas to the screen using a mixture of both 3D objects and plasticine. Starting with character development and storytelling, through to a finished animation masterpiece using the latest animation software, the Animation Mash Up workshop covers all the secrets to bring animation to life, 3D modelling, storyboarding, video production, set and prop construction and animation concept development. Do you have what it takes to create an animation mash up that will take your creativity to a whole new level! No experience required, just plenty of imagination.
Trial by Jury – Guilty or Innocent! Grades 5, 6 & 7
Guilty or innocent…you decide?
Fancy yourself battling it out in a courtroom of law? Can you argue a good case? You could be the next Judge Judy or Judge Joe Brown. Be a part of this amazing course where sizzling courtroom antics come to life! You will be taken on an amazing journey with a real-life Barrister. Learn how a courtroom is brought to life and explore various legal roles such as the roles of barristers, witnesses, judges and jury. You will get to take part in a civil and criminal law matter and team up to prepare a case for a very HOT courtroom debate! Guilty or innocent? Don’t miss the opportunity to take a vital role in some sizzling courtroom antics!
CSI – Crime Scene Investigators – Grades 5, 6 & 7
Forensic Scientists needed! Put your wit and skills to the test to solve ‘whodunnit’ crimes.
Fancy yourself in a team of Forensic Scientists who will be called upon to solve some mind, boggling cases! Put your wit and skills to the test as you solve ‘whodunnit’ crimes. You will check out a crime scene where you will be collecting and evaluating evidence using techniques such as dusting for fingerprints, conducting a splatter analysis and looking at chromatography. All in a day’s work for a Crime Scene Investigator!
Robotics Playground Engineering – Grades 5, 6 & 7
DESIGN, CREATE, ENGINEER! Learn about 3D design, 3D print, microcontrollers, robotics, and engineering with us through our hands-on session! Students will have the opportunity to take home a 3D printed product that they 3D designed themselves!
An exciting robotics and engineering sessions designed for both the creative and critical thinkers. We will kick off the session with 3D designing which the students could do methodically or extremely creatively or even better, a mix of the two! We will guide the students through the design process where they will each design something of their own. Each student’s design will then be 3D printed on the day. While the 3D printing is happening we will bring out our robots for the students to complete a set of problem-solving challenges. This is designed to hone the student’s programming and team working skills. Through this session, we want to inspire tomorrow’s engineers – today!
